A quick phone conversation with Dr. Barry Cosper of the Bessemer Baptist Association had our church board meeting with the remaining five active members of Hopewell First Baptist Church. There one concern was to keep the doors of their church open even if that meant turning the keys over to another ministry.
That one Sunday afternoon phone call had us meeting together and confirming our interest in moving our ministry to their location for the purpose of building the Kingdom in their community.
Once the papers were signed to dissolve their name and the deed converted to our ministry, the work began to update their facilities to welcome in a new era of ministry in Bessemer. This was not us replacing or simply taking over, we were taking the baton and using our resources and motivation to carry on the work they started.
